about

“Past Structures, Present Matter” – the debut EP of Ōtone – is the third release from the record label YGAM.

Berlin based artist and YGAM's founder, Ōtone is an electronica, ambient & techno producer, whose love for industrial and decaying spaces, autumnal rains, and isolated bodies and landscapes pushes him to explore the realm of electronic music to translate these subjects into sound.

“Past Structures, Present Matter” is a four tracks piece in which Ōtone depicts his intimate vision of ruins and scarred structures through which time can be perceived and felt. Ōtone explores the ruin as a strange weave of space and time where the past, the present and the future blend together. Creating a strong relationship between body and space, we confront a rotting landscape, that reminds us of our own fatality and the vanity of all human undertaking. “Past Structures, Present Matter” is an image of a resonating metallic age of dust, that sinks into undone matter, calling into question our own existence.
